A Year Without Resolutions

I hope everyone had very delightful December holidays, whatever you celebrate.  Yesterday we had a very nice gift exchange, a failed attempt at making our own Christmas wreath, followed by a trip to the Indian casino about 15 miles away to go to the buffet for dinner.  We thought it would be a fun treat.  It was, but we had no idea how popular the idea would be.  We had to wait in line for an hour before getting a table.  But they must have a had a hundred different kinds of food prepared, and I filled up my plate 3 times before dessert.  Liberty was super well-behaved as always and everyone enjoyed seeing her.  I lost $20 in a slot machine.  Oh well, maybe next year.  It was such a nice buffet that it might just be our new Christmas tradition.

I did not make cookies and have yet to unpack the Kitchenaid, because I don't have a place to put it.  We received such a generous amount of gifts for only the 3 of us, and I was too overwhelmed to put everything away and cook.

You know that list of the top 10 life events that cause major stress?  Things like: leave a job, start a job, get married, have a baby, move?  DH has joked that the only thing we have not done in the last 18 months or so is to get divorced.  Though I don't have a crystal ball, I do have some ideas about what 2011 will bring and it is more of the top 10 stressors.  Not unwelcome items, of course, but stressors nonetheless.  That is why 2011 is the year of no resolutions.  I usually like to make at least one resolution, though like most people I'm also usually bad about remembering them.  I only really remember 2 in particular now.  The year I started Flylady, and a couple years ago when I resolved never to pay retail price for anything.  I've still kept those.

So, if anything, I guess I am just resolving to keep the status quo.  The year is already going to busy enough; I am certain there won't be room in our schedules to try anything new that isn't absolutely necessary.  For those things, I'm looking forward to 2012.
