I read somewhere that we should be journaling right now. I don't know why. But I'll do it anyway.
Our lives are not much different at the moment, because we already home school, we already prep, I already work at home, and neither of us has lost our jobs.
Ways things have changed since March 13:
1. More than a dozen events on our calendar have been cancelled. And I didn't really think we did that much outside of the home. Mike was to work as a volunteer at a conference in California. We lost some money by cancelling his airfare. We got travel insurance but it did not cover the reason for cancellation.
2. The neighbor kids come over to my house every single day. That's all I'm going to say about that. There's a lot more in my head about that, but not now.
3. It is harder to get groceries. For the past year or more I do grocery ordering online, with curbside pickup. Curbside pickup has not been cancelled, but it's now 3 full days out, and I'm used to ordering groceries the night before my pickup the next morning. So now I have to try to predict what we might need 3 days from now. Then on pickup day they text me to say half my order is sold out. Then I go inside the store and find only a quarter of my order is sold out. We can still find what we need, but sometimes have to go to multiple stores or wait a few days.
4. Mae thinks I'm nuts when I'm cleaning stuff or telling people to wash their hands. She's sick of it. I am not afraid of the virus but on the other hand I don't want to get sick. I don't want any kind of cold or flu bug. I don't care what version of coronavirus it is. And if I did come down with covid-19 then I have to be quarantined and who is going to get groceries and take care of my kids when that happens? I would rather not get sick.
5. Mike still drives to Salem for work but since most people are staying home, he reports the traffic is much lighter and it's an easy drive.
