The POD is here!

We're moving using PODS. PODS are small shipping containers that can be delivered to your house. Then you fill them up and they take them to storage or wherever you want them to go. For long distance moves like ours, you can only get one size: 8x8x16. The drop-off process takes less than 10 minutes. Here's photos of ours being dropped in front of our house. I would have made a movie if I knew it was so cool.
In the photo above, you can kind of see that the driver is carrying a huge remote control. He uses the control to lift the POD up and away from the truck, while keeping it level the entire time.

Here the POD is fully lifted off the truck and the truck has driven out from under it.

Now the driver uses the remote control to lower it to the ground.

Once on the ground, the POD is unhitched and the wheels are driven back toward the truck using the remote control.

Back to the truck!

That UHaul truck across the street isn't ours. Someone else is moving out too. I'm sure they were envious of our POD.
We hired a college student to help Mike move things in. After about 4 hours the thing was pretty much full. We have a few boxes left to pack. Hope they fit!
