We went and picked up the keys to our house today. It was awesome. This was actually only the 2nd time I had been to the house. That's right, I bought it after seeing it once in November.
There were things that I didn't remember, like that the master bedroom was painted yellow and that some of the hardware and fixtures are badly outdated. Some of the rooms seemed smaller than I remembered, and some of them seemed bigger.
The house is still clean and sound.
But the most amazing thing is still the view and the outdoors. The house is so incredibly located, that from any window in the house you can not see anything but nature. I take that back. There is an office window that looks out onto our own driveway, so there's a view of my car. Otherwise, if you look outside from anywhere in the house, you will not see anyone else's house or any other building.
We own a waterfall. A tiny waterfall. Mike climbed down the hill and took a picture. Well, he came back muddy and said he actually fell down the hill. Twice. Like I've said before, it's a really steep hill. So I still have not gone down to see our creek and waterfall. But I walked around outside and listened to our water, and smiled. Mike says the creek is tiny. Just 1-2 feet across. We've looked at other waterfront properties that had huge "creeks" running by. Oregon has a lot of water. But a tiny creek that we own is fine by me.
Mae wandered off and found an open can of Comet. After I took it away from her, she went and found a fireplace poker. You can always trust a baby to find the most dangerous thing in the room.
So now it's time to start packing. Since we just made a down payment on a house, our cash reserve is kind of low. The last several times we moved, we bought boxes. That's right, I've been so extravagant that I've paid for moving boxes many times. Then threw them away or gave them away when I was done. So I thought, to save money, I'll just pick up used boxes from someone else. What goes around, comes around, right? I look on Craigslist only to find that people are selling their used moving boxes! Wha?? Am I chump for just giving mine away? Maybe not...I remember Flylady says she doesn't believe in selling things. Mike says it's just a sign of the times.
If people are so hard up for cash, why can't I find a freaking babysitter?
