Picked up the car from the service department again for the 2nd time in a week.  They fixed the windshield that they broke, but then ignored a couple other repairs and performed one unauthorized one instead.  We didn’t have to pay for the unauthorized one.  We won’t be returning to that dealer again.  It’s just sad how you can not find a mechanic that is both competent and honest.

I'm really glad I left sales. The "service writer" didn't do a good job checking the car out before he started repairs, lied when I pointed out the broken windshield, and then blew off inspecting the repairs I authorized.

The "service manager" (who is just another sales guy) got me to pay half for the broken windshield. After the 2nd time back, when the service writer billed me for work not done and blew off the repair I ordered plus other work...

I didn't lose my cool with either one, but just said I had enough and put the money back on my credit card. The manager didn't even take me back into the VW area, he didn't give me any trouble about refunding the money, just soldiered up and said it would show up back on my card as soon as he could find the invoices and return the cash.

Apparently, I had made an impression on the staff on my last visit. I never raised my voice, never pointed at anyone, just asked a few questions and visibly showed my disgust at their incompetence and left.

In the end, it wasn't that much money and it wasn't that much time, it's just that people should be concerned with the quality of their work.

Sometimes your work is all you have, according to the Desiderata. While I am not religious, I appreciate the sentiments expressed in that article of literature.
