Daughter 842271

Today I was inducted into the DAR. My ancestor is John Ward (1759-1834). In April 1777, he enlisted in Captain Thomas Abbey's Comapny in Connecticut. He served in this regiment for three years. In August 1777, he served on an expedition to Rhode Island, where he was taken prisoner by the British and detained for nearly a whole year. Eventually he entered British service to avoid further imprisonment. He then deserted the British and returned home to CT, where he joined the same company and was discharged in April 1780.

Today was a proud day, a day I have anticipated for many years.

Congratulations! I'm so glad that you finally were able to get in. Thank you so much for "paving the way" for the rest of the family.
