Cowboy Luau

On Sunday I went to a barbeque at Descanso Gardens with my dad. It was fun. They had a jug band.

Here is a picture I took of a rose called Desert Peace.

We went to the bird watching house and there was a volunteer from the Audubon Society who showed us a blue heron out on the pond. The pond was also full of small turtles. Small I say, compared to the turtles in Hawaii. Normal-size for CA, I guess. My dad is a birdwatcher himself, and he found a duck that the volunteer couldn't identify. He was pretty proud for having stumped the Audubon guy.

We took the tram tour and the kiddie train. The tram tour was ok, but I was glad to have an umbrella with me to use as a parasol. When my dad wanted to go on the kiddie train, I kind of hoped he was joking. But he went and bought 2 tickets so I knew he wasn't. It turned out to be pretty good. The train is so small you can go through nature like you could not on the tram. Also it was amusing when the train derailed and the engineers had to fix it with a crowbar.
