Family Tree

I posted my family tree on ancestry.com. They just made it so everyone can post a big tree and you don't have to pay extra. You used to have to pay extra for this service.

Anyway, I uploaded my tree which has 243 people in it today. A baby tree by most genealogists' standards, but I created it all myself (no cut and paste from someone else's tree), so I'm pretty proud of it so far. It's taken me a long time to do because I've frequently lost track of what I was doing and had to start over. Also, midway through the project I realized the importance of documenting one's sources. I couldn't remember exactly how I knew certain dates or people's names, and I had to start over and document every piece of information that I had.

Finished just in time. Someone actually saw my tree on ancestry.com and emailed me for help. I knew right where my documentation was and, I hope, was able to help him. He hasn't responded to me so I'm not sure if he got my message back. Ancestry.com does one of those double-blind email things so you can't talk to strangers directly. It's actually a very impressive, powerful website. Costs about $150/year for a membership, but it's well worth it.

Here is a picture of my grandparents. People see this picture and do a double-take, they say I look just like my grandmother. I admit that sometimes I see it and the likeness freaks me out a little bit.

Cool! How cool is it to look so similar to someone who lived so long ago! Talk about dominant genes!....jer

Wow. That is freakish but in a very cool way.

I know I said I was going to leave nasty comments on your blog since I can never get you on the phone but I can't bring myself to do it.

I should have you talk to my mom. She is totally into genealogy too. She is obsessed.
